Case Study · B2B E-Commerce

A B2B trade storefront built for how industry actually buys

Motico Solutions supplies industrial abrasives, power tools, and finishing equipment across Lebanon and the wider region. We built them a quote-first commerce platform that fits trade buying, with per-customer pricing, three tiers of access, and a foundation ready for AI search.

The Challenge

Industrial suppliers do not sell like consumer shops. A workshop ordering custom abrasive belts is not adding a t-shirt to a cart. Pricing is negotiated per customer, specs matter (dimensions, grit, packaging), and the relationship runs on quotes and trust, not one-click checkout.

Motico needed a storefront that respected that reality. A generic e-commerce template would have forced their trade business into a retail mold that does not match how their customers buy. They needed catalog depth for a technical product range, pricing that reflects each customer’s agreement, and a buying flow that starts with a request, not a credit card.

What We Built

Quote-first commerce.

The core flow submits a structured order or quote request that Motico’s team reviews and processes, with a built-in quote-to-order conversion path. This mirrors real B2B trade rather than forcing card checkout the market does not use.

Per-customer pricing.

Each account carries its own discount tier, applied automatically at order time and locked into the quote so terms stay consistent once agreed. Volume buyers see their pricing, not a public list price.

Three tiers of access.

Guests browse the catalog with specs and pricing gated. Authenticated customers get full specs, their own pricing, an account dashboard, order and quote history, and favorites. Admins get a complete management surface. One platform, three experiences, cleanly separated.

A catalog built for technical products.

Hierarchical categories, product variants with their own SKU and stock, per-product specs (dimensions, sizes, grits, packaging), PDF data sheets, related products, and full-text search with suggestions. Built for a deep industrial range, not a handful of items.

Local manufacturing, front and center.

Motico converts custom wide abrasive belts locally and delivers made-to-order, removing the import lead times and minimum-order constraints their customers would otherwise face. We made that a headline part of the storefront, because it is a real competitive edge.

A market-fit checkout.

Cash on Delivery, Whish, and OMT, the payment methods Lebanese trade buyers actually use, with VAT handling and configurable delivery and free-shipping thresholds. A deliberate fit for the market, not an afterthought.

An admin platform, not just a site.

Motico’s team manages products, categories, brands, orders, quotes, customers, users, messages, reviews, analytics, blog, FAQ, pages, navigation, promo codes, and full site branding from one dashboard. The build doubles as a near white-label foundation we can stand up again for the next industrial client.

Ready for AI search.

We shipped an llms.txt, an explicit AI-crawler allowlist, and structured data, so as buyers increasingly discover suppliers through AI engines, Motico is positioned to be found and cited. This is the same GEO capability we offer as a service, built in from day one.

The Stack

Next.js 15 and React 19 on the App Router, TypeScript end to end, Tailwind CSS, Prisma with PostgreSQL, and Supabase Storage for product imagery. Custom JWT authentication with secure httpOnly cookies, no third-party auth dependency. Deployed on Vercel with a full CI pipeline.

Production-grade from the start: a complete Content Security Policy and security header set, image optimization with a Sharp pipeline, incremental static regeneration on the homepage, error monitoring with Sentry, performance tracking with Speed Insights, and a full automated test suite running unit and end-to-end checks against PostgreSQL in CI.
